JACIRA S. CARDOSO, editor and translator, graduated from Faculdade de Jornalismo Cásper Líbero (now Faculdade Cásper Líbero) in São Paulo. In 1976, she took charge of the internal publication of texts on Anthroposophy and Waldorf education at Escola Waldorf Rudolf Steiner in São Paulo, run by Associação Pedagógica Rudolf Steiner. From then on, inspired by the task she had undertaken, she became interested in learning German, which she pursued independently and systematically through engagement with the original works of Rudolf Steiner and other authors.
Having observed the growing interest in anthroposophical publications among readers outside the school community, in 1980 she proposed to Dr. Rudolf Lanz, cofounder of the school and translator of numerous works on Anthroposophy, the creation of a publishing house to make this literature more widely available. After a year of planning, with the support of a small circle of cofounders, Editora Antroposófica was established in 1981. Based in independent premises, it began its publishing and commercial activities, serving a much wider readership.
By 2007, over 31 years of uninterrupted work, Jacira Cardoso had personally edited more than 30 titles at Escola Rudolf Steiner and around 140 titles at Editora Antroposófica, most of them reissued several times in revised and updated editions. In 2008, now working as an independent editor, she founded AD VERBUM EDITORIAL, a small business primarily dedicated to translation and book publishing projects related to Anthroposophy and related subjects, serving the publishing needs of numerous anthroposophical organizations and independent authors. Since then, she has produced around 130 titles, including updated reissues and new publications. Her publishing work also includes privately commissioned editions on a wide range of relevant subjects.
She is the editor and translator of the book Duetos poéticos (a bilingual anthology) and author of the book Guia editorial para tradução, edição e publicação de livros antroposóficos.
Her translations to date make up an extensive collection of books published by Editora Antroposófica, Ad Verbum Editorial, and various anthroposophical organizations.
